Lloyd Yates used his arm to lead Oak Park River Forest to a playoff win over Dundee-Crown. Rob Valentin reports for High School Cube News:
Oak Park-River Forest 35, Dundee-Crown 13
Fourth-seeded Oak Park-River Forest (9-1) took a little while to get going but once the Huskies got moving, there was no stopping them. OPRF led No. 13-seeded Dundee-Crown 14-7 at halftime then dominated the second half en route to the home win in the opening round of the Class 8A state playoffs
Midway through the second quarter, Dundee-Crown (6-4) trailed 14-7 and faced a fourth-and-inches at the Oak Park 10-yard line. Junior back Caleb Parson was stuffed at the line for no gain. OPRF scored the next 21 points on three Lloyd Yates touchdown passes.
Yates was spectacular, especially in the second half. The 6-foot-2 junior was 4-for-4 after halftime for 139 yards and three touchdowns. For the game Yates was 11-for-16 for 252 yards. He also ran for 81 yards and a touchdown on nine carries.
