Leah Walters, of Oak Park, has been named to the President’s List at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. This academic honor is achieved by earning a grade-point average of 4.0 during the fall 2011 semester at Drake.

Carolina Merchen, of Oak Park, has been named to the University of Delaware’s Dean’s List for fall 2011. Merchen is a senior majoring in health sciences major.

To meet eligibility requirements for the dean’s list, a student must be enrolled full-time and earn a grade-point average of 3.33 or above (on a 4.0 scale) for the semester.

Mike Liebreich, of Oak Park, has been named to the dean’s list at Fontbonne University. Liebreich is pursuing a bachelor of science degree in special education. He earned a grade-point average of 3.7 or higher upon completion of the 2011 fall semester.

Northern Illinois University announces the fall 2011 graduates and undergraduates and they include local residents Joel Gimbel, of Oak Park, who earned a master of science degree in statistics; Andrea Morley, also of Oak Park, who earned a master of science degree in nutrition and dietetics; and Marcus Stallings, of River Forest, who earned a bachelor of science degree in public health.

Commencement ceremonies were held Saturday, Dec. 10, and Sunday, Dec. 11.

The following students at Illinois Wesleyan University reside in Oak Park and were named to the dean’s list for the fall semester of the 2011-2012 academic year: Erin Butler, Sean Cavenagh, Rosaleen Egan, John Frueh, Claire Jolicoeur, Joe Muriello, Carolyn Pluta, Theoni Richardson and Emily Smith.

Commencement on Dec. 17, 2011, marked the graduation of 42 baccalaureate students and 70 adult studies students from Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights, Ill., and among them were Gail A. Ferraris, of Oak Park, and Katherine A. Stackhouse, also of Oak Park.

Knox College, Galesburg, Ill., has released the dean’s list of distinguished students for the fall term 2011. The list includes Hannah Belle Bloyd-Peshkin, of Oak Park, a sophomore whose major is undecided; Margaret Miller Har, of Oak Park, a senior chemistry and economics major; Elena Christine Johnson, of Oak Park, a junior economics major; and Lourdra Ann Thorson, of Oak Park, a sophomore whose major is undecided.

To be named to the dean’s list, a student must have earned at least 2.5 credits in the term, with a grade-point average of 3.6 or better (on a 4.0 scale).
