River Forest police blotter for Jan. 17, 2013

The following incidents were listed among the official reports of the River Forest Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.
DUI
Susan M. Lombardo, 45, of 1415 Jackson, River Forest, was arrested at 3:28 p.m. Jan. 8 and charged with driving under the influence after emergency personnel responded to a call of a traffic accident with injuries at the intersection of Chicago and Lathrop avenues. Police say Lombardo consented to a blood-alcohol content test that was conducted at Oak Park Hospital. She was charged with DUI, pending results of the serology test. She also was cited for illegally passing on the right and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. She was released on a recognizance bond pending trial.
John P. Griffin, 18, of 727 Thatcher, River Forest, was arrested at Chicago Avenue and Oak Street and charged with driving under the influence. According to police, Griffin was stopped for driving without headlights. Police reported that he failed field sobriety tests, and blew a .127 blood-alcohol level on a Breathalyzer test. He was also cited with failing to yield at an intersection, operating a motor vehicle without lights and illegal lane use.
DRUG PARAPHERNALIA
Heather N. Burke, 22, and Andrea M. Salazar, 21, both of Oak Park, were ticketed for unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia at 3:28 a.m. Jan. 9 after police investigated an illegally parked car in the area. Officers reported smelling the odor of marijuana, according to the police report, and allegedly found a glass pipe suspected to have cannabis residue. They were cited under village ordinance and ordered to appear at an adjudication hearing in March.
FLEEING AND ELUDING
River Forest detectives are working to identify the driver of a green Toyota Corolla, who reportedly was observed driving 50 mph in a 30 mph zone at 12:04 a.m. Jan. 12 on the 7500 block of North Avenue. When police attempted to stop the car, the driver fled westbound, accelerating and making several lane changes, police said. According to police, the officer caught up to the car to identify the driver; however, he decelerated to break off the pursuit as the speed reached 80 mph.
“The vehicle and suspect descriptions were transmitted across the area, and efforts will be made to locate and arrest the offender,” said Deputy Chief Craig Rutz.
