River Forest Township hosts tax appeal seminar

River Forest —
A property tax appeal seminar will be offered at 6 p.m. Aug. 28 at the River Forest Township, 8020 W. Madison St.
The seminar is designed for taxpayers seeking to appeal their 2012 property tax assessments and is co-sponsored by River Forest Assessor Pamela Kende. The hour-long session will educate taxpayers on how to file a successful tax appeal.
The seminar includes a presentation by Commissioner Dan Patlak explaining how property taxes are calculated and the Board of Review appeal procedure. Taxpayers can work with staff from the Board of Review to address their specific questions and concerns.
The event is free and there is no fee to appeal at the Board of Review. Taxpayers are asked to bring a copy of their most recent tax bill.
Appeal forms my also be picked up at the Board of Review, 118 N. Clark St., Room 601 in Chicago or at the Maywood Courthouse, 1500 Maybrook Drive. A limited number of appeal forms may be available at the River Forest Township Assessor’s Office.
River Forest Township is open for appeal until Sept. 5. Taxpayers may also file an appeal online by visiting www.cookcountyboardofreview.com.
