The warm-up that helped shrink snow piles Monday was expected to be short-lived, with the National Weather Service predicting single-digit temperatures and possible below-zero wind chills by Tuesday night.
After a high of 43 degrees Monday, forecasters were expecting temperatures to slide to lows of 5 to 9 degrees Tuesday night.
Overnight fog and freezing rain was supposed to give way to snow by Tuesday afternoon, with possible accumulations of 1 to 3 inches, the weather service said.
It won’t get too much warmer for the rest of the week. Wednesday will see a high of 25 degrees with a low of 19. Thursday will reach just 20 degrees and dip to 4 to 8 degrees at night.
