Community Events
Oak-Leyden Community Support Day: 8 a.m.-10 p.m. Aug. 28 at The Whole Foods Market, 7245 Lake St. in River Forest. Whole Foods will donate 5 percent of its net sales to Oak-Leyden Developmental Services. Customers will enjoy listening to the Oak-Leyden Choir as they perform throughout the day. St. Vincent Ferrer’s Golf Outing: 11 a.m. shotgun start Aug. 20 at St. Andrews Golf in West Chicago. The event will include golf, dinner and drinks. Cost is $150 per golfer. Dinner only, is $75. Sponsoring a hole is an opportunity to help the school — $200 includes a sign at the tee box and a ticket for dinner; $100 will put your name or your company’s name at the tee box. Rules of the Road Review Course: 10 a.m.-noon Aug. 20 at the Howard Mohr Community Center, 7640 W. Jackson Boulevard, Forest Park (Jackson and Des Plaines). Free to anyone who wishes to attend. Purpose of course is to help participants pass the Illinois drivers license renewal exam. Prepares you for the general written and road exam and provides info on the vision screening. Trailside Museum
Trailside Museum of Natural History is at 738 Thatcher Ave., River Forest (Chicago and Thatcher avenues) and is run by Cook County Forest Preserve District. Registration is required for all programs unless otherwise stated. Call (708) 366-6530. Most programs are free.
