“Film View and Review: You be the Critic,” 3:30 p.m. Hosted by radio announcer Dan Kane. Free and open to the public. Aug. 10: “Elizabeth” starring Cate Blanchett and Joseph Fiennes Following each film, Kane leads a discussion that occasionally morphs into a spirited debate, all in fun.

Book Worms: Book Club for Seniors 10:30 a.m.-noon, Aug. 23 at Cheney Mansion, 220 N. Euclid Ave., Oak Park. Keep your mind active by joining in a lively discussion each month. Start your reading now for the August selection — Nickel and Dimed by Barbara Ehrenreich. Copies of the book are reserved at the main Oak Park Public Library under “Park District of Oak Park Book Worms.” Fee is $1 for Active Adult members and $2 for nonmembers.

Transportation: River Foresters can take advantage of the Oak Park township curb-to-curb shuttle bus service by calling (708) 383-4806. Service is from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. daily and costs $1 each way. Call 24 hours in advance to make your reservation.
Blue Cab Coupon Books: If you are a senior River Forest resident you are eligible to purchase cab coupon books at the River Forest Community Center. These books cost $7 but contain $10 worth of cab coupons for either Red or Blue Cab Companies. You can purchase a maximum of two books per month by sending a self-addressed stamped envelope to: River Forest Community Center, 8020 Madison St., River Forest, IL 60305, Attn: Seniors, along with your check, or come in and purchase them.
Card Club: 12:30-3:30 p.m. next meets Aug. 16 in the Senior Center, second floor of community center. All levels welcome; but must have basic knowledge of game. Light refreshments.
