OAK PARK — The Oak Park Development Corporation and the Village of Oak Park, in conjunction with SCORE, will present three free small business seminars.
The seminars run from 8:30-11 a.m. on three consecutive Mondays in September in the Community Room at Oak Park Village Hall, 123 Madison St.
Local businesses, as well as those looking for the tools to open a business, have requested educational opportunities that stress the nuts and bolts of launching a business and making it prosperous.
The first seminar, “Mastering Cash Flow and Profit,” is on Sept. 10. This workshop will review basic financial concepts needed to run a small business. Accounting, financial statements, cash flow forecasts, business start up costs, various financial tools and the importance of keeping good records will be covered.
The second, “Show Me the Money,” is on Sept. 17. Understand the various ways you might finance your business and how to approach friends and family, angel investors, banks and venture capitalists. Learn to prepare the documents you will need to submit for each. A guest banker will present criteria banks use to determine credit worthiness and a representative from the SBA will discuss the SBA loan guarantee program.
The last seminar, “Taking Your Business Online,” will be on Sept. 24. This Internet workshop is for business owners who want a more effective presence on the Web or who are looking to venture out into the Web for the first time. Key concepts and concerns faced by business owners will be addressed. The importance of social media will also be discussed.
The seminars are free, however, seating is limited and registration is required by calling (708) 383-3838 or send an email to contact@opdc.net. Indicate the seminars you wish to attend, along with your name and contact information.
