Veterans Day ceremony at Oak Park Arms

Updated: November 14, 2012 12:35PM

OAK PARK — Traditional ceremonies honoring American veterans will be held at the historic date and time of the World War I Armistice at the Oak Park Arms.

Ceremonies begin at 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 11 at the Oak Park Arms, 408 S. Oak Park Ave.

This year’s ceremony will take place at the Arms because of construction at Scoville Park.

As is the custom, the Oak Park police honor guard, bugler John Borland, local clergy and others will participate.

For many decades, the local American Legion planned services and parades associated with Memorial and Veterans days. Five years ago, a group of Oak Park residents and veterans assumed the responsibilities and will continue the tradition.
